17Alpha-Hydroxy-5alpha-androstan-3-one is a precursor of testosterone. It has been shown to inhibit prostate cancer cells by decreasing intracellular calcium levels and enzyme activities. 17Alpha-Hydroxy-5alpha-androstan-3-one has been shown to decrease the levels of some nucleotides in carcinoma cells, which may be due to its ability to interfere with DNA replication. This drug also binds to androgen receptors and inhibits their activity, which may lead to decreased levels of testosterone. 17Alpha-Hydroxy-5alpha-androstan-3-one is a potential candidate for the treatment of prostate cancer.
