This chemical reacts with formaldehyde to produce a formyl group, which can be detected by magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS). The acetanilide moiety in this compound is an active substance that is effective against pyridinium, which is a reactive substance. Methylating this acetanilide leads to pro-apoptotic proteins that are fluorescent and can be detected using fluorescent probes.
