4,6-O-Benzylidene-D-glucono-1,5-lactone is an oligosaccharide that is synthesized from D-glucose. It has a molecular weight of 536.7 g/mol and a CAS number of 62222-46-2. 4,6-O-Benzylidene-D-glucono-1,5-lactone is used for the modification of glycoproteins. The synthesis of this product starts with the fluorination of D glucose to give 1,2,3,4,6 tetrafluorohexane. This product can then be methylated to form 4,6 methylene dioxolanone or it can be benzylated to form 4,6 O benzylidene dioxolanone. Click chemistry can then be used to modify this product by adding an aminopropyl group at the C4 position
