Beschreibung:
Essigsäure, mit der CAS-Nummer 64-19-7, ist eine farblose, stechend riechende flüssige organische Verbindung, die ein wichtiger Bestandteil von Essig ist und zu seinem sauren Geschmack und starken Geruch beiträgt. Es hat eine chemische Formel von C2H4O2 und wird aufgrund der Anwesenheit einer Carboxylgruppe (-COOH) als Carbonsäure klassifiziert. Essigsäure ist hygroskopisch und mischbar mit Wasser, Ethanol und Ether, was es vielseitig in verschiedenen chemischen Reaktionen und Anwendungen macht. Es hat einen Siedepunkt von etwa 118°C und einen Schmelzpunkt von etwa 16°C. Essigsäure wird häufig in der Produktion von synthetischen Fasern, Kunststoffen und Lebensmittelkonservierungsmitteln sowie in der chemischen Industrie zur Synthese verschiedener Verbindungen verwendet.
