CAS:Hexanal is a volatile organic compound that has been shown to have biological properties. It is found in a variety of natural compounds, such as hexenol and caproic acid, which are used in the production of perfume. Hexanal can be extracted from these compounds using solid phase microextraction (SPME) and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. This compound has been shown to inhibit transcription activator activity by binding to DNA at the transcription factor binding site, decreasing the intracellular Ca2+ levels and enzyme activities. Hexanal can also be used in analytical methods such as gas chromatography-mass spectrometry for detection of dinucleotide phosphate (DNP).
