Beschreibung:
Glutathion, mit der CAS-Nummer 70-18-8, ist ein Tripeptid, das aus drei Aminosäuren besteht: Glutamin, Cystein und Glycin. Es ist ein entscheidendes Antioxidans, das in fast allen lebenden Zellen vorkommt und eine wichtige Rolle beim Schutz der Zellen vor oxidativem Stress und der Aufrechterhaltung des Redoxzustands spielt. Glutathion existiert in zwei Formen: reduziert (GSH) und oxidiert (GSSG), wobei die reduzierte Form das aktive Antioxidans ist. Es ist an verschiedenen biochemischen Prozessen beteiligt, einschließlich Entgiftung, Proteinsynthese und Regulierung der Zellfunktionen. Glutathion ist in Wasser löslich und hat ein relativ niedriges Molekulargewicht. Seine antioxidativen Eigenschaften werden der Thiolgruppe in Cystein zugeschrieben, die Elektronen spenden kann, um freie Radikale zu neutralisieren.
