Beschreibung:
Rhenium ist ein Übergangsmetall mit dem Symbol Re und der Ordnungszahl 75. Es zeichnet sich durch seinen hohen Schmelzpunkt aus, der einer der höchsten unter allen Elementen ist, und sein dichtes, silber-weißes Aussehen. Rhenium ist bemerkenswert für seine hervorragende Beständigkeit gegen Korrosion und Oxidation, was es für Hochtemperaturanwendungen geeignet macht. Es zeigt eine Vielzahl von Oxidationszuständen, wobei +7 der höchste ist, und kann eine Reihe von Verbindungen bilden, einschließlich Rhenium-Oxiden und Rhenium-Sulfiden. Rhenium wird hauptsächlich in Superlegierungen für Jet-Triebwerke und in Katalysatoren für die Erdölraffination verwendet. Seine Isotope, insbesondere Rhenium-186 und Rhenium-188, haben Anwendungen in der Nuklearmedizin. Darüber hinaus ist Rhenium relativ selten in der Erdkruste, oft in Molybdänit-Erzen zu finden, und wird typischerweise durch komplexe metallurgische Prozesse extrahiert.
