Beschreibung:
Zirkonium ist ein Übergangsmetall mit dem Symbol Zr und der Ordnungszahl 40. Zirconium oxide, also known as zirconia, is a ceramic material with a high melting point and thermal expansion coefficient. It can be used in the production of dental restorations, such as crowns and bridges, because it is not attacked by hydrochloric acid in the mouth. Zirconium can be combined with other metals to produce alloys with desired properties. The biological properties of zirconium are related to its chemical stability and resistance to oxidation. The reaction mechanism for zirconium compounds is based on the formation of metal carbonyls. This metal has been shown to have human serum levels that are low enough so that it does not interfere with blood coagulation or platelet aggregation reactions.
