Beschreibung:
Kalzium, mit dem chemischen Symbol Ca und der CAS-Nummer 7440-70-2, ist ein Erdalkalimetall, das für verschiedene biologische und industrielle Prozesse unerlässlich ist. Es ist ein weiches, silberweißes Metall, das relativ reaktiv ist, insbesondere mit Wasser und Säuren, und dabei Kalzium-Hydroxid und Wasserstoffgas bildet. In seiner elementaren Form wird Kalzium typischerweise in der Natur als Teil von Verbindungen gefunden, wie Kalzium-Carbonat in Kalkstein und Kalzium-Sulfat in Gips. Es hat einen Schmelzpunkt von etwa 842 Grad Fahrenheit (450 Grad Celsius) und einen Siedepunkt von etwa 1.470 Grad Fahrenheit (800 Grad Celsius). Kalzium spielt eine entscheidende Rolle in biologischen Systemen, insbesondere bei der Bildung von Knochen und Zähnen sowie bei der Muskelkontraktion und der Nervenfunktion. Aufgrund seiner Reaktivität muss Kalzium unter Öl oder in einer inert Atmosphäre gelagert werden, um Oxidation zu verhindern.
