Beschreibung:
Indium ist ein Post-Transition-Metall mit dem chemischen Symbol "In" und der CAS-Nummer 7440-74-6. Es zeichnet sich durch sein silber-weißes Aussehen aus und ist relativ weich, formbar und dehnbar, was es ermöglicht, es leicht zu formen und zu gestalten. Indium hat einen niedrigen Schmelzpunkt im Vergleich zu vielen Metallen, was es in verschiedenen Anwendungen nützlich macht, einschließlich Löten und Elektronik. Es zeigt eine einzigartige Eigenschaft, sich beim Erstarren auszudehnen, was unter Metallen selten ist. Indium kommt hauptsächlich in Zinkerzen vor und wird oft als Nebenprodukt der Zinkraffination gewonnen. Chemisch ist bekannt, dass es einen Oxidationszustand von +1 und +3 hat, wobei der +3-Zustand in Verbindungen stabiler ist. Indium ist ungiftig und hat Anwendungen in der Herstellung von Indium-Zinnoxid (ITO), das weit verbreitet in Touchscreens und Flachbildschirmen verwendet wird. Darüber hinaus spielt es eine Rolle bei der Entwicklung bestimmter Legierungen und wird auf potenzielle Anwendungen in Solarzellen und anderen fortschrittlichen Technologien untersucht.
