It has been shown to inhibit the binding of ligands with high affinity and selectivity to 5-HT2A receptors. 3-(2-Chlorobenzenesulfonamido)propanoic acid has also been shown to exhibit an affinity for other ion channels and peptides, such as the NMDA glutamate receptor and the CGRP calcitonin gene related peptide receptor.
