Natriumiodid (NaI) ist eine anorganische Verbindung, die durch ihr weißes kristallines Aussehen und ihre hohe Löslichkeit in Wasser gekennzeichnet ist. Sie besteht aus Natriumkationen (Na⁺) und Iodid-Anionen (I⁻), die eine ionische Bindung bilden. Natriumiodid ist hygroskopisch, was bedeutet, dass es Feuchtigkeit aus der Luft aufnehmen kann, was seine Stabilität und Lagerung beeinträchtigen kann. Es wird häufig in verschiedenen Anwendungen verwendet, einschließlich als Jodquelle in Nahrungsergänzungsmitteln, in der medizinischen Bildgebung als Radiopharmazeutikum und in der organischen Synthese als Reagenz.
