Chlortalidon ist ein thiazidähnliches Diuretikum, das häufig zur Behandlung von Bluthochdruck und Ödemen im Zusammenhang mit Herzinsuffizienz, Leberzirrhose und Nierenstörungen eingesetzt wird. Es zeichnet sich durch seine Fähigkeit aus, die Natriumrückresorption im distalen Tubulus des Nephrons zu hemmen, was zu einer erhöhten Ausscheidung von Natrium und Wasser führt, was hilft, den Blutdruck zu senken und die Flüssigkeitsretention zu reduzieren. Chlortalidon hat eine lange Halbwertszeit, die eine einmal tägliche Dosierung ermöglicht, und wird oft wegen seiner anhaltenden blutdrucksenkenden Wirkung bevorzugt. 2-Chloro-5-(2,3-dihydro-1-hydroxy-3-oxo-1H-isoindol-1-yl)-benzenesulfonamide is a drug that belongs to the class of sulfonamides which is used in pharmaceutical formulations.
