This compound is also used as a reagent for gas chromatography/mass spectrometry analysis of the aromatic amines, which are carcinogens. N-(tert-Butyldimethylsilyl)-N-methyltrifluoroacetamide has been shown to inhibit proliferation of HL-60 cells, which are derived from a myeloid leukemia cell line, and colon cancer cell lines. This compound has been shown to be effective against colon cancer cells through its ability to induce apoptosis.
