Beschreibung:

Methacrylsäure ist eine organische Verbindung mit der chemischen Formel C4H6O2, die als ungesättigte Carbonsäure klassifiziert ist. Es handelt sich um eine farblose Flüssigkeit mit einem charakteristischen stechenden Geruch und es ist in Wasser, Alkoholen und vielen organischen Lösungsmitteln löslich. Methacrylsäure ist bekannt für seine Fähigkeit zur Polymerisation, was es zu einem wichtigen Monomer in der Herstellung von Methacrylat-Polymeren und -Copolymere macht, die in verschiedenen Anwendungen, einschließlich Klebstoffen, Beschichtungen und Kunststoffen, weit verbreitet sind. Die Verbindung hat einen Siedepunkt von etwa 160°C und einen Schmelzpunkt von etwa 16°C.
