The growth factor activity of this drug is mediated through the binding of this receptor and the activation of various intracellular signaling pathways. This drug is effective in treating eye disorders such as macular degeneration. Delta9,11-Estradiol also has a protective effect on ganglion cells by reducing oxidative stress, inhibiting apoptosis, and modulating inflammatory responses. The hydroxyl group in Delta9,11-Estradiol can be used as a corrosion inhibitor in eye drops and other ophthalmic solutions. It binds to viral gene promoters and inhibits transcriptional activity of these genes.
