Loratadin ist ein Antihistaminikum der zweiten Generation, das häufig zur Linderung von Allergiesymptomen wie laufender Nase, Niesen und juckenden Augen eingesetzt wird. Es zeichnet sich durch seine selektive Antagonismus der peripheren H1-Rezeptoren aus, was hilft, die häufigen Nebenwirkungen, die mit Antihistaminika der ersten Generation verbunden sind, wie Sedierung, zu minimieren. Loratadin ist ein weißes bis fast weißes kristallines Pulver, das praktisch unlöslich in Wasser, aber löslich in organischen Lösungsmitteln wie Ethanol und Methanol ist.
