CAS:Cefdaloxime is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections. It has a breakpoint of 8, which means it will be effective against organisms with an MIC of up to 8. Cefdaloxime is degradable and orally active, which makes it suitable for treating patients who cannot take injections or have difficulty swallowing tablets. This drug binds to receptor binding sites on the cell wall of gram-negative bacteria, and can also bind to affinity ligands in the cell membrane of gram-positive bacteria. Cefdaloxime may be used as an antimicrobial agent against resistant microorganisms such as Enterococcus faecium, Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
