Kolophonium, auch bekannt als Kolophonium, ist ein natürliches Harz, das aus Kiefern gewonnen wird, insbesondere aus der Art Pinus. Es zeichnet sich durch seine feste, spröde Form bei Raumtemperatur aus und ist typischerweise bernstein- bis gelbfarben. Kolophonium besteht hauptsächlich aus verschiedenen Harzsäuren, einschließlich Abietinsäure, und hat eine komplexe Mischung aus Terpenen. Es ist unlöslich in Wasser, aber löslich in organischen Lösungsmitteln wie Alkohol, Ether und Terpentin.
