CAS:Kontrolliertes ProduktTheobromine is a xanthine alkaloid that is found in the cocoa plant. It can be found in the blood, urine, and breast milk of humans and it is metabolized by liver enzymes. Theobromine has been shown to cause an increase in blood pressure in animals, but not humans. Theobromine has been shown to inhibit the activity of certain enzymes, including phosphodiesterase and adenosine deaminase. This drug also inhibits the activity of some cytochrome P450 enzymes. Theobromine has also been shown to have a diuretic effect on rat liver microsomes.
