Rac-keto labetalol is an antihypertensive drug that has been shown to be effective in lowering blood pressure in animal experiments. Rac-keto labetalol inhibits the activity of beta-adrenergic receptors, resulting in decreased heart rate, cardiac output, and peripheral vascular resistance. Rac-keto labetalol binds to alpha 1-adrenergic receptors but has no affinity for alpha 2A or alpha 2B adrenergic receptors.
