CAS:Ethylene glycol monosalicylate is a glycol ester that can be used to increase the solubility of some poorly soluble drugs. It is also an anti-inflammatory drug, which is used in the treatment of bowel disease and choroidal neovascularization. Ethylene glycol monosalicylate has been shown to have good chemical stability and does not react with metal hydroxides or zirconium oxide. This drug is absorbed through the skin, oral, or intravenous routes. Ethylene glycol monosalicylate has been shown to be effective in vitro for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and bowel disease induced by antibiotics. In vivo studies have shown that this drug may be useful in treating chronic bowel inflammation such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's Disease.
