Ramipril ist ein Angiotensin-Converting-Enzym (ACE)-Hemmer, der hauptsächlich zur Behandlung von Bluthochdruck und Herzinsuffizienz eingesetzt wird. Es handelt sich um ein Prodrug, das im Körper in seine aktive Form, Ramiprilat, umgewandelt wird. Die chemische Formel von Ramipril lautet C23H32N2O5S und es weist eine einzigartige Struktur auf, die eine Sulfonamidgruppe enthält, die für seine pharmakologische Aktivität entscheidend ist.
