CAS:<p>LOC14 is a peptide derived from the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that has been shown to have anticancer activity. It was found to be active against tumor cells, but not normal cells, in culture. LOC14 is neuroprotective and prevents the activation of microglia in response to an inflammatory insult. This peptide also modulates the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines by inhibiting the phosphorylation of NF-κB and by preventing the degradation of IκBα protein. LOC14 inhibits food poisoning caused by enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) and other bacterial pathogens.
