Dextran

Beschreibung:
Dextran ist ein komplexes verzweigtes Polysaccharid, das aus Glucoseeinheiten besteht, die hauptsächlich durch α(1→6)-glykosidische Bindungen verbunden sind, mit gelegentlichen α(1→3)-Verknüpfungen. Es wird von bestimmten Bakterien, wie Leuconostoc mesenteroides, produziert und wird aufgrund seiner Biokompatibilität und Nicht-Toxizität häufig in verschiedenen Anwendungen eingesetzt. Dextran ist in Wasser löslich und bildet eine viskose Lösung und weist ein hohes Molekulargewicht auf, das je nach Quelle und Produktionsmethode variieren kann. Zu seinen Eigenschaften gehören die Funktion als Stabilisator, Verdickungsmittel und als Medium für die Arzneimittelabgabe in der Pharmazie.
