3-Amino-N-(6-methoxypyridin-3-yl)benzamide (1) is a ligand that binds to the benzodiazepine site of the GABA receptor. It has been shown to inhibit binding of GABA to its receptor and thus reduce neuronal activity in vitro. This compound is a potent inhibitor of the bacterial enzyme DNA gyrase, which maintains the integrity of bacterial DNA. 3-Amino-N-(6-methoxypyridin-3-yl)benzamide has also been shown to inhibit protein interactions, specifically between protein kinase C and phosphatidylinositol 4,5 bisphosphate.
