Eugenol

Beschreibung:

Eugenol ist eine farblose bis blassgelbe Flüssigkeit mit einem charakteristischen Nelkenaroma, das hauptsächlich aus Nelkenöl, Muskatnuss und Zimt gewonnen wird. Seine chemische Formel ist C10H12O2 und es gehört zur Klasse der Verbindungen, die als Phenylpropanoide bekannt sind. Eugenol ist bekannt für seine antiseptischen, schmerzlindernden und entzündungshemmenden Eigenschaften, was es weit verbreitet in zahnmedizinischen Anwendungen und als Aromastoff in Lebensmitteln und Getränken macht. Es hat einen Siedepunkt von etwa 254°C und eine Dichte von etwa 1,06 g/cm³. Eugenol ist in Alkohol und Ölen löslich, hat jedoch eine begrenzte Löslichkeit in Wasser. Neben seinen Anwendungen in der Lebensmittel- und Kosmetikindustrie wird es auch in der Synthese verschiedener organischer Verbindungen und als natürliches Pestizid verwendet. Es sollte jedoch mit Vorsicht behandelt werden, da es Hautreizungen und allergische Reaktionen bei einigen Personen verursachen kann.
