Beschreibung:
Valproinsäure, mit der CAS-Nummer 99-66-1, ist eine verzweigte Fettsäure, die hauptsächlich als Antikonvulsivum und stimmungsstabilisierendes Medikament dient. Es ist eine farblose bis blassgelbe Flüssigkeit mit einem charakteristischen Geruch und ist in Wasser, Alkohol und Ether löslich. Die chemische Formel von Valproinsäure lautet C8H16O2, und es hat ein Molekulargewicht von etwa 144,22 g/mol. Valproinsäure ist bekannt für seine Fähigkeit, die Spiegel von Gamma-Aminobuttersäure (GABA) im Gehirn zu erhöhen, was hilft, die neuronale Aktivität zu stabilisieren und die Häufigkeit von Anfällen zu reduzieren. Es wird häufig zur Behandlung von Epilepsie, bipolaren Störungen und zur Vorbeugung von Migräne eingesetzt.
