Converted as signalogenic moiety of an enzyme substrate, chlorophenol red beta-D-galactopyranoside has a good proven sensitivity in the detection of beta-galactosidase activity in transfected mammalian cells, when compared to ONPG (o-nitrophenyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside) (Eustice, 1991)
