Beschreibung:Prokineticin 2 (Bv8) is one of the first neuropeptides that appears to directly convey circadian rhythm signaling to other CNS structures and, therefore, it may be a critical output molecule regulating biological rhythms. The peptide has the capacity to strongly suppress nocturnal locomotor activity. Prokineticin 2 transmits the behavioural circadian rhythm of the suprachiasmatic nucleus. The peptide binds to the G-protein-coupled receptor PKR2. Gardiner et al. showed that prokineticin 2 potently inhibits food intake.
