Beschreibung:The 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is a powerful antituberculosis drug belonging to the rifamycins class. It effectively treats tuberculosis infections with its strong bactericidal activity. This compound inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, preventing transcription and replication. Its high efficacy has been demonstrated through patch-clamp technique on human erythrocytes. Metabolized through various transformations, including hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid. It also specifically targets markers expressed in Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains and inhibits cell growth in culture.
