• Beschreibung: Strophanthidin is a cardiac glycoside that is used to treat congestive heart failure. It inhibits the production of cAMP, which has been shown to reduce the contractile force of the heart by blocking the signal pathway for adenylyl cyclase. Strophanthidin also increases cytosolic calcium levels and activates calcium-dependent phospholipases, leading to increased production of arachidonic acid and its metabolites. This leads to vasoconstriction of coronary blood vessels and an increase in myocardial oxygen consumption. Strophanthidin has been shown to be active against hl-60 cells, human serum, and a biological sample.
