Beschreibung

Dimethisterone-d3 is a synthetic progestin that has been shown to inhibit the angiotensin system and suppress bowel disease. This drug has biological properties such as a hydroxyl group, which may be related to its antioxidant properties. Dimethisterone-d3 is used in women for the treatment of uterine bleeding and as a contraceptive. It also inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by competitive inhibition of enzyme substrates, which leads to suppression of inflammation in the colon. Dimethisterone-d3 is a potent inhibitor of intracellular phospholipase A2, which prevents the release of arachidonic acid from membrane phospholipids and thereby blocks the production of prostaglandins. This drug is also biocompatible with polymer materials and is used as an intrauterine device (IUD) coating to prevent pregnancy.
