Ethyl decanoate is a fatty acid ester that is used as a solvent in the production of polyester resins, lubricants, and plasticizers. It has been shown to have antibacterial properties and is effective against bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics. Ethyl decanoate has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by disrupting the cell wall synthesis process through its reaction with glycol ethers.
