Beschreibung

Isobutyl cinnamate is a colorless liquid with a strong odor. It is soluble in organic solvents and insoluble in water. Isobutyl cinnamate has been shown to have antibacterial efficacy against bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The hydrolysis of iso-butyl cinnamate by hydrochloric acid yields three products: 1-phenylethyl alcohol, isobutyric acid, and acetone. The addition of an elaeagnus extract to the hydrolysis reaction produces a mixture of phenolic acids with antimicrobial properties. Isobutyl cinnamate can be analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GCMS) with electron impact ionization mode (EI). The GCMS procedure involves the use of a capillary column for separation and identification.
