Beschreibung:Gyrophoric acid is a terpenoid that is found in the essential oil of nutmeg. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of human adrenergic receptors and protocatechuic acid, which is an intermediate in the synthesis of fatty acids, has been shown to inhibit fatty acid synthase. Gyrophoric acid also inhibits the growth of fungi by inhibiting the production of carbon dioxide. The inhibition of fatty acid synthase leads to decreased levels of malic acid and chemical pesticides such as carbon disulphide. Gyrophoric acid can be used as a herbicide in plant cultivation and can also be used as a chemical pesticide against insects.
