Diallyl phthalate is a diallyl isomeric mixture that binds to the androgen receptor. It is also stable in complex with phosphates, alcohols, and other organic compounds. Diallyl phthalate has been shown to have carcinogenic effects in animal studies. The physiological effects of this compound are not well understood, but it has been shown to inhibit liver lesions in rats. In addition, diallyl phthalate has been shown to react with water vapor or reactive oxygen species such as hydroxyl radicals.
