Beschreibung

Benzo[b]naphtho[1,2-d]thiophene is a sulfoxide that is used as a fungicide. It inhibits the growth of fungi by preventing the synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids. Benzo[b]naphtho[1,2-d]thiophene has been shown to be effective against Penicillium species, Aspergillus flavus and Botrytis cinerea. It is also used as an analytical reagent for the determination of amines in organic solvents. The chemical properties of benzo[b]naphtho[1,2-d]thiophene make it useful in various techniques such as molecular modelling and chromatography.
It is found in recycled rubber products, where it may react with amines that are present in the rubber to form sulfoxides. These reactions can be prevented by adding antioxidants to the rubber before recycling it or using desulfur
