This compound's low redox potential makes it stable under high salt conditions, and it does not react with azobenzenes. Docosanedioic acid has been shown to inhibit the production of fatty acids and fatty esters in vivo in humans. It also reacts with cytochrome P450 enzymes and is a monoclonal antibody substrate. Docosanedioic acid binds to rat liver microsomes, but not to human erythrocytes or bovine liver microsomes.
