Beschreibung

3-(2-Hydroxyphenyl)acrylic acid is a hydroxylated phenolic compound, which is an intermediate in the metabolism of cinnamic acid. Hydroxylation of 3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)acrylic acid can occur at one or both of the ortho positions. It is also converted to protocatechuic acid and caffeic acids by hydrolysis. 3-(2-Hydroxyphenyl)acrylic acid has been shown to have diphenolase activity and acetate extract, as well as acting as a substrate for caffeic acid 4-hydroxycinnamate O-methyltransferase.
