Beschreibung

Pentatriacontane is a nitrogen-containing chemical compound that has been shown to have antimicrobial properties. It is an effective inhibitor of microbial growth, including bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, and fungi such as Candida albicans. Pentatriacontane inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids by inhibiting the activity of the enzyme fatty acid synthase. This inhibition leads to cell death by producing toxic levels of malonyl-CoA and other acyl-CoA intermediates. Pentatriacontane has also been shown to be an effective inhibitor of Candida albicans in vitro. It works by preventing the production of fatty acids, which are needed for fungal growth.

Pentatriacontane is used in pharmaceutical preparations as a preservative or stabilizer for ointments, creams, lotions and suppositories.br>br>
