• Beschreibung: Oleyl acetate is a liquid fatty acid that is used as a nutritional supplement. It is also used to produce pharmaceutical preparations, such as microcapsules, and in organic synthesis. Oleyl acetate is created by the esterification of oleic acid and acetic acid. This reaction can be catalyzed by an inorganic acid or a polymerization initiator. The viscosity and reaction products of oleyl acetate can be altered by changing the concentration of reactants or by altering the method of production. Oleyl acetate also reacts with nepeta cataria (catnip) to form nepetalactone, which has been shown to possess anti-inflammatory properties. Encapsulation rates are between 10% and 15%.
