Beschreibung

1-Oxaspiro[4.5]decan-2-one is a secondary amine that is used in the analysis of volatile compounds. It reacts with primary amines to form a tertiary amine product, which can be analyzed for its nitrogenous compound content. This reaction also produces alkylation products and the corresponding aldehydes. 1-Oxaspiro[4.5]decan-2-one has been shown to induce cancer in laboratory animals and to have an effect on the chemical structures of biomolecules such as fatty acids. However, it is not carcinogenic when given orally to rats or monkeys.
