• Beschreibung: 2-(Pyridin-2-yl)benzothiazole (2-PTBZ) is a bidentate ligand that binds to silver ions with very high affinity. This compound has been evaluated as a possible anticancer drug, but it was found to be too toxic for clinical use. 2-PTBZ may have potential in the treatment of bacterial infections and is currently being tested against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Staphylococcus aureus. 2-PTBZ is soluble in water and dimethylformamide, but its solubility decreases with increasing viscosity. It also has a low vapour pressure and can be used in gaseous form.
