Pyridoxine 3,4-Dipalmitate (PDP) is a synthetic surfactant that is used to treat intestinal conditions such as diarrhea. It has been shown to increase the absorption rate of amiodarone in rats. PDP is an anionic surfactant that exhibits a high degree of membrane activity and stabilizes the lipid bilayer by reducing its permeability. PDP is usually administered orally or rectally. It can be used in both medical and industrial applications, including as a food additive or in the production of household cleaners. As a surfactant, it prevents the formation of bubbles in foam baths, soaps, detergents and shampoos.
