1,4-Bis(1,2-dibromoethyl)benzene is a vinyl compound that is prepared by the condensation of two equivalents of triethylamine with one equivalent of brominated vinylbenzene in the presence of a base. It can be used to modify other compounds and has been used in the preparation of a number of biologically active substances. 1,4-Bis(1,2-dibromoethyl)benzene is found as an isolated compound or as part of functional groups such as thiosemicarbazide, methanolysis, and isothiouronium.
