Beschreibung

Cefadroxil is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections. It has been shown to have minimal toxicity in humans and exhibits low rates of drug interactions with other medications. Cefadroxil is bactericidal, meaning it kills bacteria, and works by inhibiting cell wall synthesis. It binds to penicillin-binding protein, which prevents the formation of peptidoglycan chains necessary for bacterial cell walls. Cefadroxil monohydrate is a prodrug that is converted into its active form cefadroxil by hydrolysis in the body. This conversion occurs in the blood and urine. The discovery process for cefadroxil was based on the finding that colloidal gold can be used to detect streptococcal pharyngitis bacteria.
