Beschreibung

4-Demethyl daunomycinone is a cycloaddition compound that is used as a pharmaceutical preparation. It has potent antitumor activity and has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases as well as resistant breast cancer. 4-Demethyl daunomycinone inhibits the activity of enzymes that are involved in the synthesis of proteins, such as adriamycin (an anthracycline antibiotic) and trifluoroacetic acid (a carboxylic acid). It also inhibits glycosidic bond formation and hydroxylation reactions. 4-Demethyl daunomycinone binds to DNA, which prevents the transcription and translation of genes. This leads to cell death by apoptosis.
