Beschreibung

Enrofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA synthesis by binding to and inhibiting the action of bacterial DNA gyrase, topoisomerase IV, and RNA polymerase. It has been shown to be effective against a wide variety of bacteria, including those known to be resistant to tetracycline such as Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. Enrofloxacin is not active against acid-fast bacteria. Enrofloxacin has been shown to have an adverse effect on the environment due to its resistance-inducing effects on bacteria in wastewater treatment systems.
