Beschreibung

Erythromycin B is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It has been shown to inhibit skin cancer in mice and has been found to be effective against several viruses, including herpes simplex virus type 1 and influenza virus. Erythromycin B has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, radiation-induced injury, and metabolic disorders. Erythromycin's mechanism of action is not well understood, but it may work by altering the permeability of cell membranes or by inhibiting protein synthesis.
